Membership discount

Student studying at a university, university of applied sciences or centre for senior secondary vocational education (MBO) can get a 50 percent discount. You pay just € 7,50 for a 1-year membership.

My school is on the list

If you register online, you can get the student discount by logging in to InAcademia with your school account when registering. We will automatically refer you to InAcademia if you indicate that you are a student.

If you register at the check-in desk in the KB, you can show your student card or proof of registration for your studies to one of our employees to get the discount.

My school is not on the list

If you register at the check-in desk in the KB, you can show your student card or proof of registration for your studies to one of our employees and we will check whether you’re eligible for a student discount. If so, you'll get the discount right away.

If you register online, we will not be able to process the discount immediately in this case. We recommend that you become a member for € 15 and then email @email about the student discount. Email us a scan of your student card or proof of registration for your studies. We will then check whether you’re eligible for a student discount. If so, we will refund € 7,50 to you as soon as possible.

If you are enrolled in vocational training at GO School for Information or in an Information Services and Management (IDM) course, you can become a member of the KB free of charge.

Register online to get this discount. In the registration form, choose the option ‘registration after consultation with an employee’ in step 4. Then contact us at @email to get the discount and complete your registration. We'll respond as soon as possible.

If you’re a student in 5 HAVO (senior general secondary education), 5 VWO (pre-university education) or 6 VWO and are at least 17 years old, you can become a member of the KB free of charge.

If you register online and indicate that you are a secondary school student, we will send you an email with instructions for completing your registration.

If you register at the check-in desk, you can receive this discount by showing your student card to 1 of our desk staff. We will process the discount right away.

Are you 16 years old or younger?

Students aged 16 or younger, who are in the last 2 years of secondary education, can submit a request to become a member. The application form must be completed by your parent(s), guardian(s) or teacher(s). We also need a scan of your student card and ID. Email the completed application form and the other documents to us via @email.

If you work as a librarian at a university or college library, you can become a member of the KB free of charge.

As a member of the Friends of the KB association, you get a 50 percent discount on your KB membership. So you pay € 7,50 for 1 year.

When you register at the check-in desk in the KB, our desk employee will check if you are on the Friends of the KB list. If so, we'll process the discount right away.

If you register online, we won't be able to process this discount right away. We recommend that you become a member for € 15 and then email @email about the Friends discount. We will check whether you are indeed a Friend of the KB. If so, we will refund € 7,50 to you as soon as possible.

If you have an Ooievaarspas, you are entitled to a 50 percent discount on your KB membership and pay just € 7,50 for one year.

You can only get this discount if you register at the check-in desk in the KB. Don't forget to bring your Ooievaarspas with you when registering.
